We caught up with Pro Junior Surfer and Brobassador Evan Brownell from St. Augustine, Florida.
When did you start surfing?
“I started surfing when I was about 3. I could surf before I could swim. My dad had me out there on his long board with him.”
At what point did you know surfing was going to be more than just a hobby for you?
“I knew surfing was more than just a hobby after my first contest when I was about 7.”
If you weren’t a surfer, what would you probably be or pursue and why?
“If wasn’t surfing, I would be fishing.”
Best wave caught?
“The best wave I ever caught was at offshore, maxed out Sunset Beach last winter.”
Your gnarliest wipe out?
“My gnariest wipe out was one of my first experiences surfing Pipeline, when I came up, my board was broken in three pieces and I was a little shaken up”.
“My favorite spot is probably Supertubes in Portugal, but I always have a new favorite spot.”
Best post-surf meal?
Secret to catching a lot of waves?
“My secret is being a strong paddler.”
Your best piece of advice when travelling to surf?
“When I’m traveling, I’m low key and respect the locals.”
